PATTY SOWLE

 PATTY SOWLE

Patricia “Patty” Ann Sowle (nee Carl), born Aug. 8, 1954, in Milwaukee, WI, passed away peacefully at the age of 71 Sept. 16, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.

Patty married the love of her life, Larry W. Sowle, Oct. 20, 1984, at Florist Avenue Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Their greatest blessing was the birth of their son, Alex, who became the center of Patty’s world and the source of her deepest pride and joy.

Patty and Larry later moved “up north” to Greenwood, WI, where together they embraced a quieter pace of life. They enjoyed the beauty of small-town living, the slower rhythms of country life and the simple pleasures that came with being up north. After Larry’s passing, Patty continued to make Greenwood her home, creating many wonderful memories and cherishing the visits of family and friends who loved spending time with her. During these years, she also worked as a postal clerk in the communities of Loyal, Willard and Greenwood, where her friendly smile became a welcome part of everyday life. Her dedication to serving her community reflected the same kindness and generosity she shared with her loved ones. About a year ago, she returned to the Milwaukee area, settling in Brookfield to be closer to her family.

She found her greatest joy in spending time with family and friends. Whether gathered around a card game, crocheting a gift, vacationing in Birchwood, going out to breakfast, attending luncheons as a Red Hat Society member, rummaging and thrifting or even trying her luck at the casino, she cherished the moments shared with those she loved. Her warmth, humor, and generous spirit touched all who knew her.

Patty is survived by her son, Alex Sowle (Michelle Moe); her sisters, Vicki (Dennis) Sowle and Linda (Jeff) Hoel; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, great- nieces and nephews, and great-great- nieces and nephews. She will also be lovingly remembered by her dear friend, Linda Graff, whose friendship of many decades was a treasured part of her life.

Patty was preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Mildred Carl; her cherished aunt, Margaret Evenson, who was like a second mother to her; and her beloved husband, Larry Sowle.

Patty’s legacy of love, kindness and laughter will forever remain in the hearts of those blessed to have known her.

Visitation will be held at Ascension Lutheran Church in Waukesha, WI, on Monday, Sept. 29, from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. with a funeral service to follow.
